MUAY THAI
Muay Thai is the national sport of Thailand and has been practiced for thousands of years recreationally and competitively. It is known as the art of eight limbs, utilizing kicks, punches, knees, and elbows in its techniques. Muay Thai is an effective, proven martial art for combat sports, self defense and overall physical fitness. Muay Thai has the ability to transform lives through its intense physical training and practice.
Remaining true to how the martial art of Muay Thai is taught in Thailand, we believe that the best way to train Muay Thai is to train like they do in Thailand. Our classes are well-thought-out and planned to include technique and shadowboxing, heavy bag work, partner pad work & drills, clinching, technical sparring and fight preparation, and most importantly, individual pad work with instructors. We believe that pad work with the instructor is the most important aspect of learning Muay Thai. Pad work with instructors are NOT reserved to solely fighters preparing for competition which is the usual case in Muay Thai gyms in Canada. At 9 Spears Muay Thai, it is a fundamental part of the training regimen for all members.
